We live in a representative government, and I believe that anyone running for the president of the United States - the Commander-in-Chief and the most powerful position in the world - must be scutinized, evaluated, and examined from head to toe.  Why?  Because Americans do not elect kings.  There is nothing of their lives - past or present - that is out of bounds - including their worldview and religion.  We are at war!

In fact, anyone who can’t handle - or whines about - the scutiny and stress of a presidential election by the press and bloggers - left or right, fair or not - should not be the next American president.  The next president is going to face huge global war stress and demands that are extremely weighing, and if he/she can’t handle “unfair” press then he/she needs to seek another job.

This is why, although I lean toward John McCain for president based on his national security and global terrorism competence, I do think the fact that he would become the oldest person to ever enter the office, at 72 years old, should be carefully taken into consideration by voters.

The voters and press should watch McCain’s health and phyiscal/mental strength very carefully.  Although he seems to have more energy than most of us, I will be watching closely and so should you.  If he makes it through the bootcamp of the elections physically and mentally strong then there will be no issue for me, but if we witness a worn-out McCain, then he will not get my vote.

In your opinion would it help if he chose a younger and also very capable running-mate?

This might help, however I think it will all come down to McCain’s health and strength.
